Brief Description

The College of Education is committed to the training and development of globally competitive leaders and manpower in the field of education. It aims to set standards of excellence in Teacher Education in terms of relevant curricular offerings, innovative teaching strategies and highly competitive instructional staff. The college has a laboratory school to provide prospective teachers and necessary competencies for effective teaching in the elementary (BEED) and secondary (BSED, BPED, BCAED, BTVTED) levels. The College of Education has been designated by CHED a Center of Development and has been granted Level III Re-Accredited Status by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) in BEED and BSED programs. All programs were also granted Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) by CHED ROV.

Admission and Retention Policies for the Teacher Education Programs

A. Admission Policies

Freshman

An applicant to be admitted to the program should meet the following requirements:

  • A. General weighted average (GWA) of 87% or better or its equivalent in High School; and
  • B. No grade lower than 83% or its equivalent in the final grade in any subject.
  • The applicant qualifies to the program as determined by the College based on the following Criteria:

For Transferees

A transferee, to be admitted to the program, should meet the following requirements:

  1. General Weighted Average (GWA) of 2.0 or better or its equivalent;
  2. No grade of 2.5 or lower or its equivalent;
  3. No failing grade in any course; and,
  4. No INC in any course.
For Shifters

Upon approval of the application to shift to another program, the shifter shall be subjected to the same requirements for the transferee.

B. Retention Policies

A student shall be allowed to continue in the program subject to the following requirements:

  1. a. General Weighted Average of 2.0 or better in the preceding semester;
  2. b. No failing grade in any course
  3. c. No grade of 2.5 or lower in any three courses in the preceding semester; and,

Other Policies

For Incoming Fourth Year Students:
Submission of neuro-psychological certificate from a government practitioner and/or private practitioner.
This policy on admission and retention shall be in effect starting School Year 2018-2019.
