To ensure that the next generation of registered nutritionist-dietitians (RNDs) meets the PRC-set standards, officials from the Professional Regulatory Board of Nutrition and Dietetics conducted a comprehensive inspection and monitoring visit at Catanduanes State University (CatSU) on Thursday, February 26.
The visit, led by PRB Chairperson Ma. Socorro Endrina-Ignacio and Board Member Dr. Imelda A. Agdeppa, focused on evaluating the University’s Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) program. As part of the Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) regular quality assurance mandate, the audit checked for compliance with national academic standards, and laboratory facilities.
Representing CatSU President Gemma G. Acedo, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production Affairs (VPREPA) Dr. Roberto B. Barba Jr. formally received the delegation. Dr. Barba reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustaining high-caliber health education and continuous program enhancement.
The PRC officials also engaged in a technical meeting with the faculty of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), led by Dean Ma. Alma V. Tabirara and Nutrition and Dietetics Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Emily T. Romero.
Highlighting the province-wide importance of the program, the officials also paid a courtesy call to the Governor’s Office, meeting with Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza. The meeting underscored the shared vision between the university and the provincial government in producing competent health professionals to address the nutritional needs of the island.
