Elected by the Catanduanes State University (CatSU) Board of Regents and sworn in before CHED Commissioner Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela on July 17, 2025, Dr. Gemma G. Acedo serves as the 8th President of Catanduanes State University.
Before her presidency, Dr. Acedo held key leadership positions as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Information and Communications Technology. She is also recognized among the Top 10 Scientists of Catanduanes State University by the Alper-Doger Scientific Index World Scientist and University Rankings, earning several citations and research awards for her scholarly contributions.
A dual doctorate degree holder, the CatSU 8th President earned her Doctor of Information Technology from the University of the Cordilleras and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management from Catanduanes State University. She also holds a Diploma in Public Administration from CatSU and a Master of Information Systems from the University of the Philippines Open University, Los Baños.
Her academic foundation includes two undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Adamson University and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Catanduanes State University.
Dr. Acedo envisions Catanduanes State University as a transformative institution fostering social equity and empowerment through excellence in instruction, globalization, and sustainability—driven by technological innovation for global relevance and a resilient island ecology.
