Catanduanes State University (CatSU) President Dr. Gemma G. Acedo signed on Monday, September 29, a Memorandum of Understanding with Tongmyong University of the Republic of Korea to collaborate under the Regional Innovation System for Education (RISE) Initiative of Korea’s Ministry of Education.
The RISE program empowers local governments to take a stronger role in higher education development by linking universities with regional needs. It aims to cultivate talent, boost regional innovation, and strengthen collaboration between universities and communities while positioning higher education institutions as key drivers of growth and international cooperation.
Globalization is a central element of the initiative. Through the five-year agreement, CatSU and Tongmyong University will pursue student exchanges, cultural exchange programs, faculty and staff mobility, internship and field training opportunities in both the Philippines and Korea, joint academic and RISE projects, as well as language education and training programs.
The partnership is expected to broaden learning opportunities for CatSU students and faculty while contributing to the university’s internationalization thrust.
