The Catanduanes State University (CatSU) and the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Catanduanes have joined hands to transform the university’s farm in Palnab into a full-scale CatSU Crab Center, envisioned as an income-generating project with ready markets abroad and in the mainland.
Site development has begun, with a backhoe now deepening the fishponds to meet production requirements. The project targets crabs weighing 250 grams and above, the size demanded by international buyers, with CatSU aiming to supply tons of harvest monthly once operations scale up.
The Palnab farm currently raises bangus, tilapia, and crabs, but the planned expansion will focus on crabs to meet growing demand.
