Catanduanes State University (CatSU) College of Science clinched the green light from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to run two programs effective Academic Year 2025–2026.
CHED Regional Office V Director Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr. handed the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics after CatSU cleared the minimum requirements under CMO No. 48 s. 2017. The degree has long been part of CatSU’s offerings but is now fully COPC-certified.
In a separate ruling, CHED also cleared the opening of the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology under the Natural Science Department. Based on the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) review, CatSU “substantially complied” with the standards of CMO No. 46 s. 2017. The university has two years to meet full COPC status for the new program.
The pioneering Marine Biology class began admitting students until August 29.
CatSU President Dr. Gemma G. Acedo hailed the approvals, saying the twin programs mark “a stronger science portfolio” for the island university.
