State University (CatSU), in partnership with the Catanduanes Artistic Minds
and Outstanding Talents (CAMOT), proudly inaugurated a remarkable art
exhibition titled "CAMOT sa CatSU: Obra sa Abaca."
The
event took place over the weekend, on May 20, 2023, and witnessed the presence
of esteemed CatSU officials, art enthusiasts, and media personalities. Dr.
Allan Popa, the event's guest speaker, delivered an inspiring message,
encouraging the artists to persist and nurture their passion.
The
exhibition showcased captivating artworks painted on abaca canvas,
demonstrating the creativity and skill of the CAMOT artists in utilizing this
distinct medium. It served as a platform for the artists to unveil their works
and share their talents with the Catanduanes community and beyond. Notably,
Chloe Sajo, an eight-year-old artist from Bato, Catanduanes, and the youngest
member of CAMOT, captivated attendees with her exceptional talent.
During
the event, Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza, President of CatSU, expressed his
wholehearted support for the artists and revealed plans to publish their
artworks in a coffee table book. He also expressed his intention to display
these remarkable pieces in various locations, including UP Diliman, a mall in
Quezon City, and even internationally, particularly in Taiwan, as part of
CatSU's existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a university in Taiwan.
“All
you need is a chance, an opportunity. I am sure when the world sees your
artwork, definitely, you will be able to carve your own name,” Dr. Azanza said.
Dr.
Azanza announced his vision to create a mural within the campus and adorn the
university's major hallways, lobbies, rooms, and conference rooms with these
captivating artworks. The President emphasized the importance of international
exposure and collaboration, highlighting the university's commitment to
providing opportunities for the artists to establish international linkages and
realize their dreams.
“Magtarabangan [kita], the world is so big and
so wide for us to conquer. Don’t lose patience. Dream big.”
In
his closing remarks, Dr. Azanza assured the young local artists of CatSU's
continuous support as a nurturing space for their creative expressions. He
encouraged them to explore and showcase their artistic abilities, emphasizing
that CatSU will remain a haven where their talents can flourish.
The
CAMOT sa CatSU: Obra sa Abaca exhibition aligns with the celebration of the
