COEd holds pinning, torch lighting ceremony
CollegesCatanduanes State University's College of Education (CoED) held its
second annual Pinning and Torch Lighting ceremony for the class of 2022-2023 on
January 25, 2023, at the Virac Cathedral.
The event was a milestone for 263 student interns from all programs such
as BEEd, BCAED, BPED, and BSED in Math, Science, English, Filipino, Social
Sciences, Values Education, and BTVTED-FSM, as it marked their commitment to
lifelong learning and professionalism in the field of education. The ceremony
symbolized that the recipients have achieved the required "Character,
Confidence, and Competence" to engage in practice teaching.
The ceremony was attended by the student interns, their proud parents,
and members of the CatSU academic council. Dr. Lily P. Custodio, former Vice
President for Academic Affairs and current Executive Vice President (EVP), led
the candle-lighting ceremony, symbolizing that the ideals and core values of
the university will guide the student interns in their teaching profession.
In her speech, Dr. Custodio reminded the student interns of the
challenges they will face in their practice teaching, such as preparing
lessons, managing student behavior, writing reports, and making a difference in
the lives of their future students. Moreover, she also congratulated the proud
parents for their sacrifices in supporting their children.
The Pinning of the nameplate officially marks the beginning of the
practice teachers' journey beyond the CatSU premises. #CVecilles
