COEd faculties convene for a seminar-workshop to enhance OBE course syllabus
CollegesThe College of Education (COEd) Teacher Education
Department at Catanduanes State University (CatSU) gathered for a
seminar-workshop on the enhancement of the Outcomes-based course syllabus on
January 18, 2022.
The seminar-workshop, called “ONWARD CoED: OBE
Course Syllabus Revisit and Enhancement Seminar-Workshop”, was aimed at
ensuring the effective delivery of instructions in the upcoming 2nd semester of
the academic year (AY) 2022-2023.
During the activity, faculty members who handle the
same courses worked together in the preparation of syllabus to ensure that the
learning objectives, activities, and assessments are aligned.
According to Dr. Maria Sheila R. Gregorio, Dean of
the College of Education, the activity was prepared in relation to a
seminar-workshop on TOS/Test Construction held last December 1-2, 2022, where
one of the findings in the deliberation was that the objectives or desired
learning outcomes to the teaching and learning activities, and the type of
assessment were misaligned.
“COEd, being a Center for Development, aims to
continue the pursuit of quality and excellence through collaborations, skills
enhancement, and training for its faculty members. This seminar-workshop is one
of the many efforts that the COEd undertakes to ensure the quality of education
at CatSU,” Dean Gregorio said.
Two of the COEd’s young and promising professors,
Dr. Jose Z. Tria, Assistant Professor II and Director of the Research and
Development Services (RDS), discussed the topic “Revisiting OBE Course Syllabus
– (Nature, Purposes, and Salient Parts),” and Prof. Carlito T. Gelito,
Assistant Professor II, who discussed “Enhancement of OBE Course Syllabus-
(Constructive Alignment in Instructional Planning),” served as the resource
persons of the event. #FJBT
