Nangako si Catanduanes State University (CatSU) President Dr. Gemma G. Acedo na mas pagtutuunan ng unibersidad ang program accreditation, kabilang ang mga kursong kasalukuyang nasa candidate status, bilang tugon sa hamon ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) para sa mas mataas na pamantayan ng edukasyon.Ipinahayag ang pangakong ito sa konteksto ng kauna-unahang President’s Summit na ginanap sa Century Park Hotel sa Malate, Manila, na dinaluhan ng lahat ng pangulo ng State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) sa bansa. Inorganisa ang pagtitipon ng Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP) upang i-align ng mga higher education institutions (HEIs) ang kanilang bisyon sa bagong accreditation framework.Bilang panauhing tagapagsalita, hinimok ni CHED Chairman Shirley C. Agrupis ang mga unibersidad na seryosohin ang accreditation at aktibong makibahagi sa proseso.
